Here at Bucha Brewers, we are obviously kombucha lovers, and we are also fitness fanatics!  While the two may not go together in your mind, we are here to tell you why (and how) they should from here on out!  This kombucha smoothie recipe is an incredibly enjoyable way to boost your body’s recovery and restore nutrients after a tough workout!

Upon finishing a workout, we are looking for carbs in order to restore muscle glycogen levels.  If you are looking to boost your post-workout recovery, we recommend having the kombucha smoothie within one hour of working out.  As an added bonus, the kombucha smoothie is also a delicious and nutritious snack in general—enjoy it guilt-free even if it isn’t following up a workout!  Spice it up with chia seeds and other tasty superfoods if you are enjoying it outside of your workout! Again, we keep the ingredients in this kombucha smoothie recipe limited to carbs for post-workout purposes.

Post-Workout Kombucha Smoothie Ingredients

If you are a fitness fanatic and bananas aren’t already a staple in your diet, that needs to change!  Not only do frozen bananas make an amazing base for smoothies, healthy “ice creams”, and more—they also offer a myriad of nutrition and health benefits!  Amongst these benefits are aiding protein synthesis, eliminating muscle spasms and cramps, boosting your mood, stabilizing blood sugar, aiding digestion, and boosting your energy!  Sign me up!

Add these to the health benefits of kombucha, and we have ourselves a superfood duo already!  We know store-bought kombucha gets expensive fast, but you can make your own kombucha for cheap at home! The recipe below is made for a single serving and works perfectly with a single-serve Ninja blender cup. Multiply the ingredients by your desired number of servings to make several servings at once! For as simple as it is, this post-workout kombucha smoothie has a lot to offer!  Go ahead and find out for yourself!

Post-Workout Kombucha Smoothie

In spite of being incredibly simple, this kombucha smoothie recipe has a LOT to offer!  Throw a few ingredients together to get the benefits of a post-workout carb boost in addition to an incredible range of nutritional and probiotic benefits!  It gets better: the kombucha smoothie is delicious, too!

Ingredients

  • 1.5 Bananas (FROZEN)
  • 1-2 TBS Honey
  • 3/4 cup Kombucha any flavor works! (plain is great too!)
  • 3/4 cup water The full amount isn't needed-- put in just enough to reach the "fill to" line if using a single-serving cup!

Instructions

  1. Place frozen* bananas in the blender.  *If you do not have frozen bananas, use regular bananas and replace the water with ice.  Put some bananas in the freezer for next time!

  2. Add kombucha* to the blender *Make your own with our Kombucha Kits!

  3. Add 1-2 TBS of honey to the blender (this is a matter of personal preference and how much of a carb-boost you are looking for!

  4. Pour up to 3/4 cup of water in the blender (just top off the cup if you are using a single-serve)

  5. Blend all ingredients until smooth

  6. Pour your finished smoothie into a cup & enjoy!
